Shark trackers logged fresh **pings** from a tagged **great white** traveling well offshore between **Sarasota and Tarpon Springs**. Sightings like this in the Gulf are **uncommon but not unheard of**—most are juveniles exploring seasonal routes. The pings come from a **satellite tag** that “checks in” when the dorsal fin briefly reaches the surface, giving scientists a safe, simple peek at a shark’s road trip without disturbing the animal.
Arthur’s take: “Think of that shark as a visiting mariner—swift, polite, and passing through. From shore, enjoy the ocean, give wildlife space, and keep your treasures to the tide line.”
